Not sure what the proper name is for this little piece of trim from the central console (ie, the little clip you pull to release the storage area)?

As you can see, I need to replace it.

Cheers.

Helfully titled "Catch" in the EPC. "They all do that sir" is what Mercedes will tell you.

The right hand one in Birds eye maple is part number A2116801484, but it looks like you can't get them new singly now - the kit for both left and right is part no. A2116803784.

£83.40 plus vat for the pair (or get via parts re-united for £68 plus VAT).

Inchcape FASTENER - E Class 1985 - 1994 E250D - Mercedes-Benz Parts, Inchcape still list the right hand catch for £25.02 plus VAT, so might be worth a shot if you don't mind it looking slightly different.

Do you have the original part still? One of the clips broke on mine, so had it resting where it should be as was worried about using glue in case it messed up the release action. Took car to local indie for an unrelated matter, and he must have thought he broke it, as he glued it back on without saying anything. It's fine, wouldnt know any different now!

Thanks to everyone for your assistance. Never thought a piece of plastic would cost so much to replace!

I think my 3 year old daughter was the culprit. The part can't have gone far, but it really does seem to have vanished.

Just phoned the dealer about these. He has confused me by saying that the parts are all the same and they aren't colour coded. I have held off ordering as there are no refunds. Confused... surely these must be available in different trims?

Hmm, I've seen a few different colours for those bits so I imagine they are talking a different part (maybe the bit underneath that you can now see on yours).

I would do the glueing thing if you can find it.

Nearly a hundred quid for some plastic is quite eye-watering.

I can certainly see the foot of the guilty party in the first picture!

The old part seems to be well and truly lost, which is a shame.

I checked with the parts dept and apparently the trim for the Avantgarde is standard, so it should match. Fingers crossed....

I glued mine back, so far so good, cost a fortune...all of £3:eek:

What about a breakers or eBay?

I see - it's per trim level. That explains why they differ then. Mine has been covered in carbon fibre wrap so I don't know what colour it is underneath without looking at another E55.

Well I did the deed and forked out for it, and it fitted and matched perfectly.

But never before have I spent £83 on a piece of plastic the size of a 50 pence piece!

Not what one would call 'value for money' really.

I bought mine with the headrest adjustment lever broken and glued to the surround.

The whole replacement unit (which includes headrest lever, back lever and seat base lever - all the in the shape of a seat) was £90...

Very strange pricing.

I enquired at my MB dealer about the wood trim infront of those latches, the cubby hole cover, and it was something like £180! Mine has got a crack running through the lacquer. :(

i only need one the drivers side. looks like il have to order the pair from maerica :-(
