A Autoglass Saga

With great trepidation i took the CL for a New Windscreen :(

To cut a very, very long story short.

A small crack on my CL appeared on the 10th May. Phoned Autoglass first appointment 24th May  has to be Calibrated so Guilford Depot. Get there to have it fitted, a spot in the eye line, the tech rejected it. New appointment in a week, get a phone call that morning, tech not well. Another week, another phone call on the day, Glass had not turned up :wallbash: When i asked why they hadn't kept the Glass from last week, didn't know what to say  Spoke to manager very apologetic, will have new Glass in two days for you, so i ask him why couldn't he get me a Glass in two days on the 10th May ? He said that was the main Dispatch fault.

The glass did arrive two days later and as Sean said in a previous post, a very good job was done, until they came to Re-Calibrate :wallbash: You will have to take it to a Main Dealer our software is not working, must be because it's an AMG o_O.

So i then book it in at Brooklands, couldn't do until yesterday, Then there was the who will pay who for the calibration, another story. At least the job was done very well

... Then there was the who will pay who for the calibration...

I would venture that , since the windscreen replacement is being paid for by your insurer ( presumably ? ) , less the excess , then your insurer should pick this cost up since it isn't your fault that THEIR agent couldn't do it , and after all THEIR agent told you to take the car to the dealership .

That would be my first thought .

If Autoglass would have played ball , they would have paid the dealer and then just added it to the insurance claim .

Yes in the end Autoglass paid the Dealer. It was the communication side that was the problem, as usual

It's all too complicated these days. I remember my old (1980's - Guigiaro) Panda - all the glass was flat. You could do the windscreen yourself with a kitchen knife and a bit of determination..

Cheers,

Gaz

That was also part of the design criteria for the G Wagen : every piece of glass was flat , so that it could be repaired by bush garages in third world countries.

It has to be calibrated? For the rain sensor?

Mine was booked, along with rear window, and a few days later they were fitted in my workplace car park.

Maybe it has more sensors in that bit up top than my W204. :dk:
