Mercedes E320 W124 Coupe
Hi Guys,
I'm new to this forum so I would like to say a big "Welcome" to everyone.

The reason why I ended up on this website is that I bought a E320 Coupe in W124 chassis. The car needs some TLC but the biggest problem I've got at the moment is that the car doesn't want to rev over 1500rpm.
It's all started when I gave the car to put a LPG convertion (I know I shouldn't but it is cheaper to run :( ).
When I left the car everything was running as it should (apart from Cruise Control which seems to search all the time for correct rpm's (speed was OK).
When I took it back from garage car was hunting for idle rpm. The garage said it's a bad wiring on Throttle Body which they have changed) but the car was still hunting for idle rpm.
I bought a different throttle body, I've changed all wires as they were flaked off inside and installed it back to the car.
Since then I've got difficulty to start the car and when it eventally starts it doesn't rev over 1500rpm (regardless to gearbox position (P,D or R).
I've read it maybe because it's to many errors in ECU memory.

My question is - is there any one who knows how to read and clear the faulty codes and lives close to Erdington/Birmingham?
I'll much appreciate if someone will be so good to share the knowledge and be able to help me.

Take your car back to whoever fitted the LPG system and get them to put it right.

It might not be their fault though,as post ^ my bet goes to the loom.It might have fine before but if they been playing near it would have caused the wires to get worse

This is the key point in this thread.

It's all started when I gave the car to put a LPG convertion

So they need took away a working car and gave it back with this problem... how is this not their problem to fix?

OK Guys,
I've managed to read and clear some fault codes. I've connected LED diode to pin 8 (-) and 16 (+) in the 16 hole diagnostic socket. The error which are coming back are 4, 8 and 45 blinks. Car still has got a problem to start and it doesn't rev over1500 rpm. The wiring loom seems to be OK, i think it has been changed for a Delphi replacment( I think its production date is 2003). Hence I think it shouldn't be the wiring. The wires in throttle body are re-solder for new one as well.
Does any one know what these faulty codes mean?
I appraciate you replays but going back to the garage is not an option - theye are saying it's throttle body - full stop. So its pointless to come back to them

Is original throttle body on car or replacement.

Was replacement exact same part, as they are different for some 320 models with/without cruise etc. ?

So your fault codes:

4 MAF I would disconnect it and see if that helps - it will go into fixed map mode.

8 Idle speed control & Cruise control (in limp mode)

45 Fuel safety shut off of electronic accelerator OR cruise control active ?

It may be that the replacement throttle body you bought is faulty. You have replaced the wiring but the potentiometer slider tracks that tell the car's ECU the position of the throttle plate may be worn out. Its almost impossible to repair those and most people simple swap out the entire throttle body assembly. While the LPG conversion was the first change the second change was the replacement throttle body- sometimes the repair for the orginal fault merely replaces it with another fault?
have a look at these videos Mercedes throttle body rewire
in particular this one which shows you the potentiometer tracks I am speaking about.

Hello Everyone,
Is anyone brave enough to check what kind of voltage you have got on the socket which goes into throttle body socket when ignition is ON. I'm interested in volume on holes 4 - 11 and 12-13. On mine is starts with around 11V and then it's going all the way down. I think because of that the clutch on throttle body is not engaging and the electric motor only turns for a split second.
Will it be a symptom of faulty E-Gas computer?

Cheers

Hi Guys,
It's been a while since my last post. I still suffering a problem with my car. Now it starts each time every time, and just about holds the idle rpm but still doesn't rev over 1500 rpm. When I have read the blinks codes between holes 1 - 14 - 16 on the socket (CC/ETA diagnostic) its coming with 11 blinks which I can't delete. Will it be a indication of fu**ed throttle body? Is there any one with same throttle body which has been re-done and its 100% working and it's not scare to swap it over for a test with me?

I'll appreciate any help :)
