Hi Not long bought a 2000 A160 with Semi Auto box. All has been great with the car no probs so far. Untill last night when driving along i went to change gear and it near as dam it refused to go in to any gear, I really had to force the gear stick. Once in gear it was fine drove ok. Thing is i was 20 miles from home so had to drive back. After about 10 miles of me forcing the gears it started to slide nicely into gear as previous but now the clutch is slipping terribly. Its only done 24000 miles.
Any ideas??
Thanks in advance
Paul

Sounds like the clutch was on its' way and you just helped it out a bit more.
A visit to the stealers or a good independant in your area seems innevitable.
Welcome to the forums BTW.

Hi thx for the welcome, New clutch after 24k seems abit premature. Can these electric clutchs be reset?

Is this a clutchless manual or or standard manual box?

Heard some horror stories about the clutchless unit on the A Class...

George Fraser in West london, an auto box specialist has one of these in his shop - similar problem - hes looking for a replacement box  sorry - not much help...

Sorry to say that the A Class semi auto box can have real issues with clutch life.

Friends of our had a terrible time with an A Class which luckily was still in warranty. Most of their misery was electrical but then the semi auto went phut.

After a great fuss about it being a "wear item" MBUK changed it but the Dealer told them that rule of thumb was 40K miles tops.
