No so fast car now !
Hi , first thing first , I am aware that I was not the most popular contributor on the site. I have spent some time away to try to mend my ways.

My E400 has covered 44000 miles from new with a full Mercedes Benz history plus extra oil changes. The engine oil has always been either Shell or Mercedes oil to the correct specification.

Most members would complain that the car is not going correctly but mine Car is the complete opposite.

Driven normally engine is really smooth and quite and on the Motorway at a steady 70 MPH achieved 37 MPG.

Yesterday I had to overtake an a slow car that was causing a traffic jam and I gave the go faster button a small shove and all hell let use , engine was noisy , my head was pushed back and the tyres smoked.Driving normally all OK and engine oil is normal level.

This car has never driven hard and before I take the car to Mercedes just interested I interested for other members comments.

Why would you take the car to Mercedes?
You have just experienced what an E400 is supposed to be able to do.
Sure, full throttle the engine will make more noise.
Just enjoy it and do it more often. Or sell it and get a less quick car.

I suspect the more you do it, the more you will like it. The risk is that when you get used to it, you may want even more, in which case an AMG beckons...

Hi , Trouble is I have never driven this car above 80 MPH and that was on a French Motorway in the South of France. Will take your advice and l don't want a less powerful car.

Hi , Your are correct in your conclusion. Would I like an AMG , you bet I would , have to be a wagon , but not sure about my doggie in the rear.

Unless it's a huge dog, plenty of room in the back of either an E or a C class estate, or a CLS SB for that matter.

Hi , my dog is a Red Lab so I would prefer I would prefer a C class only because of the air suspension on the e class ( I could be wrong but E types are all air ) .I was on the M5 a couple of days ago and an E class Estate was on the hard shoulder with a collapsed rear suspension. The rear end was nearly on the tarmac and it looked terrible. I could not see the driver so hope all good.

There has been problems with the oil pressure check valves and the cam-tropics. Not the end of the world for your car or your wallet!

Hi , thank you for your reply. I am aware that early M276 engines had issues as you stated but by my car is a 2016 model year registered in late 2015.

Once again thank you.

Hi, I have the M276 in my C350 and I’ve hardly ever heard the engine - even at silly speeds on the German autobahn. The exhaust, on the other hand, plays delightful music when that right pedal is depressed. It’s no AMG but it makes me smile :)

Hi , thanks for your comment in differentiation between engine noise to exhaust note. It did not occur to me.
