I remember wanting to buy a gold manta in 1989 but being talked out of it by my dad and ending up with a god awful 1.3l cavalier.

When I bought my first car (B 2.0GTE Exclusive), I remember my mate had an E reg 1.6 Cavalier.

The Manta was miles better!

...even though it was effectively a MK1 Cavalier...

It was a Capri for those who wanted something a little different. In the good old days when FWD on anything larger than a Maxi was somewhat of a rarity.

When the shape of the car is so disguised by body bits (badly fitted ones at that) it may as well be anything.
