Parked my new W204 C-Class in the carpark at work this morning and almost nine hours later jumped in it tonight to come home. Ambient temperature said 5C. Brrrr.

Fired it up, seatbelt on, heated seat on :) , release parking brake, into drive and off. Pulled out of the gate and started up the road. Just started to notice the warmth from the seat and was astonished to find that hot air was coming out the heater. Checked the "From Start" page, and time running showed 2 minutes. Coolant temperature gauge just started to move off the stop.

Now the air from the heater wasn't fully hot but it was pretty warm, and far from just cold air with the chill off it. I'm impressed. So, being new to MB's, how's it do that then?

With an electric heating element within the cabin air supply. It is especially valuable on Diesels, which take an age to warm up their engines.

If you think that's imprssive, wait until the cabin oxygen masks drop down from the overhead console when you open a window at high speed.

There will be in the cabin somewhere a small electric heating motor connected to the outside temp gauge,so that when it fall's below a set temp it kicks in and just warms it up enough to take the chill off.Someone's beaten me to it,I do need to type faster!!!!!

Noticed the same in my W204 C220. Very nice on those cold winter mornings!
