Hi all.
I need rear shelf speakers.
Im going to buy 13cm speakers coz i cant afford 12cm Rainbows at the mo.
I was wondering does anybody have a copy of a TEMPLATE that they could e mail me so I can raise them up with MDF a wee bit.:p
I dont want to be hacking away at the parcelshelf and still want them to fit under the covers.
w124 coupe

Thanks Paul Sinky Sinclair

Ummmm

If it's any help when i did mine on my old w124 coupe , i just measured the speakers and added on approx 1.5cm all round.

You've got quite a bit of space to work with under the covers.

I used 12mm or 15mm MDF , can't remember which.

MOST GOOD SPEAKERS COME WITH TEMPLATES IN THE BOX? but often can be downloaded from a the manufacturers website.e.g. TS-E1302i 13cm 2-way Coaxial Speakers (180W) - Pioneer Speakers & Subwoofers The depth of the speaker cones/magnet / connection plate may determine the depth of MDF required but modern speakers have much bigger magnets which may mean you will still have to remove some parcel shelf metal. The original speaker dimensions were such that they were mounted in small inclined plastic mouldings which clipped into the parcel shelf .
