Just curious, it’d be good to talk!

For anyone thinking of buying one, I urge you to do so!!!!

Super ride, rock solid, easy to work on, gives a big grin every time you open the door and an even larger one when the turbo kicks in, super reliable, 30+ mpg, terrific motor, fantastic cruiser, complimentary tickets to Oil Baaarons Baaaawl – for those of you that remember JR.

Last week I did 16 hours to Belgium via Dover, it never missed a beat – as usual – though I am grateful for the ton of Christmas packing my dear wife slipped in the boot and back seat. No discomfort whatsoever, warm as toast.

Tidings of Comfort and Joy, indeed!

Compliments of The Season to All!!

Yes, a bit hard to find, sadly.

Built for North America they can occasionally be found in Germany where they’ve been re-imported – complete with VERY big bumpers (sorry, fenders)!

They are becoming scarce in America as well. I bought mine on Ebay US a couple of years ago when a search would regularly produce a dozen or more every time, now it’s just a handful.

Prices are rising as well, but not as fast as for the 300CD, whopping big brass for those.

The W126 was sold in Europe, but beware with a capital ‘B’ the 350 Engine.

Happy to chip-in with advice if anyone wants to know how the process went with USA or from Germany - I've had a few cars from the Fatherland over the years.

Cheers,

Paul

I have a 450 SEL. I know what you mean, they do drive really well, even @ 30 years old!:)

Thanks for the kind comments!

Facing a beer crisis, I had to take the ship out of the harbour today.

Started first time despite not having moved for a week or more, another six inches of snow and minus 5c.

I did pour hot water over the drivers door, though. They are almost impossible to open in the summer because of the weight and quality of the seal, let alone when they're welded shut with ice.

The noise on closing is incredible. It's won first prize in the loudest door shutting in the village competition for the last two years - it also took the silver medal for the clunk heard on opening it!!

Cheers,

Paul

put some vasaline on the door seal rubber to stop it freezing together :thumb:

Lovely car.

Lovely car.

Personally I use a silicon grease (less greasy than Vaseline). Works perfectly too. Never a problem during winter and keeps the seals soft and supple.

A really cool looking car. Mine is much younger but does not look as good.
How many current models will still be in one piece when they hit 30 years old :dk:
