hello all,

So, I driving around tonight with the music barely up at all. (Wife had a phone call). I noticed a rattle/almost a buzz, which I thought was coming from somewhere where the passenger door meets the dash. It wasn’t. It was coming from the over head control panel.

It’s almost constant at around 70mph. As you slow down it only occurs when going over rough spots in the road, as the car ‘hits’ them. Below 40mph I didn’t notice it.

When I place my finger on it, it stops. It’s going in to have the steering wheel replaced on Weds. Is it worth mentioning. It seems pretty easy to remove, should I just put something behind it? A piece of foam?

Also noticed a rattle from the door speaker on the passenger side front. Only when I turn the volume up. Will they likely say it’s normal if I’m playing music loud?

On a plus note I unintentionally discovered the sunglasses holder whilst putting my finger on the console lol. That was a surprise when it came down.

Rattles and creaks drive me nuts.

My last car had a buzzing noise following the GPS aerial replacement, the whole of the roof lining had to come down.

The noise was eventually traced to the offside A pillar.

Sticky back felt did the trick eventually, something as simple as the roof console may be easy I guess if you fancy having a go.

Always worth mentioning to the repairer in case they have come across this before.

I had the exact same problem when I had the roof lining replaced a few months ago.

Drove me mad!

Dealer sorted it no problem.

I’ll get the. To have a look at it on Wednesday when they take the car for the steering wheel replacement.

I’ll update with what they say/do

Ok so apparently the engineer couldn’t hear a rattle in either location. I doubt they did town driving which wouldn’t produce it.

They said to monitor it and if it occurs again to contact them. I said it may take me taking the engineer out for a ride if he is limited to a certain speed of road testing. So I wait and see first in case it hasn’t magically ‘gone’.
