took the grandkids to the safari park today car was fine going and coming back but while we were in the park the temp went up to 100+ it normally sits at 80+ can anyone tell me how to check the fan please car is a 97 c200

the temp started to creep past 100 it was nearly in the redIf 80 is the norm I don't think there is cause for worry. On a warm day moving slowly (driving in the park) 100 does not sound bad, however, some may think otherwise.
i dont think the fan did cut in but its a viscous fan so not sureDid the fans cut in ?

I was thinking later 202's. I take it you have no transfer of oil to coolant or vice versa?

In my old W202 C200,it started overheating when stuck in traffic,turned out to be the maf,replaced it & all was fine again.
carrot test done at 95 degrees and i still have a carrotDo the carrot test,it should mince it,not stall the fan.
My old one was a 1997 model.That year should be a facelift unless it was old stock.If it's pre facelift it won't have one.

looking at your pic it was sitting close to 120Could you clarify where you say 100c is? as nearly in the Red is almost 120c, around 100c is ok in slow moving traffic for extended periods.
