My 2014 220 E class has front and rear park sensors, but the effective range seems very small,,,,not much more or even less than 12 inch's. Is there any way to extend their range? Is there any adjustment for them?

When using iCarsoft, you can look at readout for each sensor. I think the maximum in normal operation for the w212 E class is something like 255cm.My 2014 220 E class has front and rear park sensors, but the effective range seems very small,,,,not much more or even less than 12 inch's. I believe they can be adjusted to beep like every other car. I'm sure I've seen a thread on here in the past 12 months, but can't summon the effort to do that search right now.I've always found the audible warning a little too close for comfort.
Not sure if they can be manually calibrated like aftermarket kits, but it would be a great idea if that option was available, just to give a little more breathing space.
Thats a good idea to use iCarsoft to check the range MrGreedy. 225cms would be more than enough,,,thats about 10 feet, Currently, the range is more like 30 cms. I imagine iCarsoft should be able to examine it.When using iCarsoft, you can look at readout for each sensor. I think the maximum in normal operation for the w212 E class is something like 255cm.
However, I have no idea at what distance the amber, then red lights and beeps come on. Maybe that can be adjusted?
Do you have any way of interrogating live data to see what the maximum sensor range is?
Both,,,,, but it seems that from when the first light turns red, to the last one, is very brief, indicating to me that the distance travelled is very small.IIRC the audible warning only starts at the very last foot or so but the visual warning starts well before. Are you only listening for the beeps?
Or the speed too high? Both,,,,, but it seems that from when the first light turns red, to the last one, is very brief, indicating to me that the distance travelled is very small.
I doubt it very much whitenemesis, at this stage of my life, old ladies, being helped along by their granddaughters in the supermarket car park, are passing me out...Or the speed too high?
New Sensor question. While doing some work on the towbar earlier today which necessitated removing the rear bumper. In the course of the job, one sensor became detached, * (Drivers side, rear bumper ) and I need to find out where exactly it goes. It's connected to a harness which feed into a little box attached to the inside of the Bumper, and it has only
a short cable, 6 " maybe. I've attached a pic, but as it was raining heavy at the time, with water running down my back, it's not quite as clear as it should be, but the details can be seen.
Any help in identifying it would be great,
Thanks in advance
Yes Diesel Benz. This morning without the monsoon effect, Its easy to see where it goes, and it was a simple matter to mix up some two-pack adhesive, clean both surfaces and restore it to its correct location, so job done, now only to test drive it, and hopefully all will be well. Had I known then as I know now, there's actually quite a lot of surplus cable that can be pulled out through the grommet in the rear panel, and so relieve pressure on the harness. You live and learn...So the harness is still in place and you only need to know where exactly the sensor is placed at the bumper? Still confused, it should be obvious if you look at the bumper to find which sensor is missing?
