One of the rear sensors has an apparent fault, going by the red lights and OBD codes.

I bought a Bosch sensor, as the old one appeared to be Bosch, but, when swapped over, the fault remains.🤬

Due to all the recent health problems, I've not had a chance to further investigate. However, I'm wondering whether the sensors really need to be Mercedes specific rather than generic?

I had a similar problem with a Jag, it turned out to be the parking sensor module that was at fault. I bought a second hand one from a reputable Jaguar breakers and that solved the problem. Where your sensors are concerned I would fit the same type as the original fitment.

Rather than guessing I suggest have it diagnosed properly as could be wiring or even control unit at fault, where are you based?

My iCarsoft scanner read the codes fine last time there was an issue, so need real reason to think it wouldn't work this time.

I'm in W.Sx.

Hmm...I have a module for something; I'll check to see if that's what I bought previously.

Bosch is fine Chris, replaced plenty of my W211 with Bosch. It may be that another sensors also f’d.

When I'm well enough, I'm going to swap out several front sensors (all fine) to the back and see what happens.
I'd be annoyed if the Bosch sensor wasn't suitable, as it should be and wasn't cheap.

Having taken 29 tablets today, I'm not likely to be driving anytime soon.😞

Your icarsoft shows you the sensors working or not working. Goto Parktronic option.

Bosch sensors are on eBay from as little as £10 each. No need to pay alot of ££££ .

Swap each rear sensor with your newly bought one . Eventually you'll replace the duff one . Unless there are more than one duff .

I don't know if Mercs are the same but on the Jag if you put your finger lightly on the sensors when activated you could feel them vibrating if they was working.
I have rear sensors on my car but I had them fitted by a private company as the car was not fitted with them as standard.

ICarsoft identifies the specific sensor that is faulty.

Hi All,

Forum newbie and first time with an issue not covered under warranty.

S213 2016, parking sensors and I think distronic. I start the car and the dash shows the two car icon with and exclamation mark and off. Try turning the assisted braking system in the dash menu and it shows as early / medium / late and off as options, select one and for a second it selects then defaults back to off. When stick in reverse all the sensors show red and the console button then illuminates to show the sensors as off.
Following the rave reviews around icarsoft v2, I bought one. I plug that in and it suggests no errors with parktronic.

So ……. Am I not using the Icarsoft correctly or is the distronic and sensors issue connected such that one is turning both systems off’?
Does the system need calibration?

Help!

Is the front of the car clean ?

I have cleaned all the sensors individually.

The sensors I've replaced in the past , showed signs of delamination in the rubber that they use to seal the main body. Thus letting in moisture, causing shorts.
