Not 100% on the A169, but I know you can't on E-class and don't think so on the C-class as you cannot remove the head restraint. Something to do with Active Restraint?

If you mean can the seat back fold forward so that it is horizontal across the front seat base, for carrying long loads, then this was an option on 5-door models although I rarely see it fitted - there will be a release handle at the top of the seat back if so (3-door models have the release handle there anyway to tip the seat back forward for access to the back seat). If you mean can it recline backwards into a horizontal position so that you can turn the front and back seats into a bed then I'm not sure. The headrest will come out and you can recline it back as far as it will go, but I think it will hit the back seat base before it gets horizontal.

My Nissan Note can do the trick of reclining the front seat back to horizontal and forming a 'bed' with the back seat, and it was even featured in the brochures at the time, but it doesn't look like it would be comfortable.

Thank you I understand. Yes I did mean the front passenger seat but the rear seat info is very helpful. That fully answers my question.
