Our 2000 SLK 230 lost all power this morning. When trying to pull away the engine refused to move above idle speed, even with the accelerator pedal fully depressed. After about thirty seconds it recovered slightly and moved but not in relation to where the pedal was. I was able to limp to my destination and left the car for about four hours. On restarting it drove perfectly on a journey of sixteen miles. iCarsoft shows a code P2023-000 but it is not present in the database. Any suggestions as to the cause?

Assuming an electronic throttle--- its likely to be either a faulty throttle pedal position sender or a faulty throttle body or associated wiring

Many thanks. I’ll see if I can clean the contacts as a start point.

HOW can you have 2 cylinder banks in a straight 4 engine? ;)
I’m beginning to think that it’s a spurious code which has always been there. I get similar on the B Class which reports faulty secondary door locks which don’t exist.

In that case you need to get it on STAR to drill down to the actual issue
I suspect I may end up there although I found a reset routine which I have tried, waiting to see if the problem recurs.

Got a replacement throttle body from eBay for £18. Fitted it and all seems well.
