R230 parktronic audible warning

My 2007 SL350 has parktronic fitted. The visual display works fine at the front but I don't have any audible warnings. I'm presuming there a little internal speaker that has given up the ghost.

The rear unit is fine.

Lol I just read back my post and realised I hadn't actually put a question in there!

Does anyone know where the speaker might be located and whether it can be replaced?

Where does the sound come from when the rear engages. ?? Is it not from the rear view mirror area ?

Yes the rear is from the speaker in the unit with the display and works fine. Im presuming the speaker in the front unit has gone.

So it's not from the rear view mirror area then, more the parcel shelf area. ?

Can you confirm that your car does not behave like described by the manual? On a 2007 R230 Parktronic only gives an audible alert for the front once the first red distance segment appears. That is from quite a close distance. The rear gives an audible alert from the first segment (onwards). This for some reason different from many other Mercedes models of the same age.
