R230 starter motor

Hi Ive had my starter battery tested & its fine , 12.5 v.
This drops down to 8.5 v when cranked over to start.
It seems I need a new starter motor but at £454 for a Bosch (part only) seems a bit steep.
does anyone recommend/ experienced any other makes?

8.5v is a tad on the low side. Do you have problems starting?

Yes its sluggish on warm start up. ( after a 30+ mins run)

What's wrong with getting your Bosch unit refurbished ? An exchange unit would be half the cost.
You sound as if you'd remove and fit the thing yourself, so it seems... profligate... to buy a new unit.

Has the starter - and the battery - it done many miles / starts?

Sounds like the battery not the starter but see my recent post, my starter was eating amps and eventually died
