So I'm new to the world of Mercedes, having just bought a 2012 C-Class Estate (W204). Car is great, but while driving, the radio will mute and give off a soft-toned couple of beeps, then un-mute. Only was to describe it is "doo-dee", then a few seconds or minutes later, the opposite "dee-doo", again with the radio muting for the beeps. Traffic Announcements is turned off. No messages appear in the display, and this can happen rather randomly, when driving, when stopped, etc. Can anyone help with this please? Thank you :)

Is TA displayed on your screen? eg, in the corner?

Otherwise, are you accidently pressing the Lingatronic button on the steering wheel? Mine beeps (lowers music) when its awaiting a command.

Definitley not doing that :( If I do press and hold it, there is no beeps

Can you video it, upload it to YouTube for us to see?

Wonder if the previous owner had personal poi's in your area and the system is pinging to say you've passed one?

I'll check the POI's, but they lived around 40 miles away from me. But it doesn't seem to be when I'm anywhere specific. On my route to work it may do it 5 times, 10 times, it may do it once, or not at all... But the beep pattern gives the impression of something starting and stopping, if that makes sense... "doo-dee" followed by "dee-doo".

And if you press it once? (not holding it)

Mine makes the sounds you mention and I have the same gen COMAND as yourself.

Just been out to try that. If I press once, or press and hold, there is no beep, but the screen changes to nav and asks me to speak the address I want to navigate to. So that rules out the button sticking or being pressed accidentally. I did notice that TMC was set to Automatic, I've changed that to "Never" and will test when driving home later... Also there were 4 phones showing (previous owners), so have deleted those too...

Speed camera alerts?

Does your car have Audio20 with the optional Becker Map Pilot navigation module in the glove compartment?

Or the COMAND Online NTG4.5 system?

The BMP until will beep whenever you are exceeding the speed limit even if the Audio20 screen isn't on the NAVI map display.

That would be the speed limit as showing on the BMP maps data, not the actual current speed limit for that road (which may have changed since the BMP maps were last updated).

It's a configuration option on the BMP.

If you don't think this is the issue, then try eliminating it by removing the BMP unit from the glove compartment and driving around without it for a while.

Hmm I will try this after work and report back... Thank you :)

Just for

For info, my BMP talks to me and tells me I'm over the speed limit, no beeping.

My audio 20 BMP talks to me and tells me I'm exceeding the speed limit, no beeping for that on mine.
