Hi all.
Problem started on the Viano a few weeks ago after a run when the engine was quite hot, on returning to the vehicle there was just a click & the starter would would not turn. After a couple of clicks it did however start. This has repeated itself over the past month but always starting after several clicks until today......... just clicking for up to an hour afterwards. Then it suddenly started & we got home & on trying again just the clicking. Having left it for a couple of hours now it starts every time. I expect no problem in the morning. I have been reading about "heat soak" whereby as the starter gets hot so the electrical resistance increases hence the clicking- if I have understood correctly. A possible remedy is a poor earth connection to the starter motor. Can anybody please tell me where it is & are the connections easily accessible for cleaning. I suspect the starter is old but when cold it turns over well.
Many thanks as always Rob
