Hi all, I think I'm going insane please help. After buying my 2010 E350 CDI estate with a very slight knock on the rear O/S bumper, not enough to crack it but enough to craze the paint. Scanned Parktronic system with iCarsoft and identified 'malfunction on sensor 7'. Took the rear bumper off and found sensor 7 was physically broken. Heyho. Ordered a replacement Bosch one off EBay with the identical part number as the other working sensors and replaced it. No luck. Scanner message changed though to 'wrong component installed'. Ordered another sensor. Today I have got the same results. I moved the sensors around and have got the error to change position with the sensor so all wiring is OK. The resistance between pins 1 and 2 are the same on the new sensors and the old.
I thought the sensors were just plug and play. I have disconnected the battery for 20 minutes. No change. I found a reset for a Honda which I tried and it has really confused me. The video I watched said press parking sensor Off button 10 times within 10 seconds of turning the ignition on. Turn off the ignition. Press and hold parking sensor off button while turning on the ignition and release. Well I tried that and the first time I put the car in reverse the red lights and audible warning did not happen although the fault was still there. On the second attempt the warnings were there. This got me thinking there has to be some sort of parking control module reset on my vehicle. It is a late 2010 registered vehicle with lots of 2011 changes in
I would have thought if the parking control module was faulty none of the sensors would work, not the fault move where i put the replacement sensor. I'm now at wit's end as it must be something really simple. Any pointers greatly received.
