I have just got a 2010 W212 E350 but it only has 1 key - how easy is it to get a spare and what sort of cost is involved?

I think that as long as it's before 2014, it can be coded by a locksmith. I have a coder that can read and duplicate keys but the newest car that i've used it on was a 2006. Anything newer than 2014 requires it to be taken to the dealer.

The dealer will want to see a V5C in your name and a photo ID.

The cost is around £300-350 for the fob including programming in the car, but some type of fobs may cost even more.

For the price, the dealer will also delete the missing fob from the MB database (and from the car) so that it will no longer work (e.g. in case someone else had it and was planning to steal the car etc).

I am also aware that some members here used the services of a mobile car locksmith who can provide a new fob for less, but I don't have any contact details to hand - so far I got all my spare fobs (when needed) directly from dealers.

If you are prepared to drive to RMK in Birmingham, they can make you a key while you wait for around £180+vat.
You'll need photo ID plus your V5.

Suggest taking your full address from your signature - some dodgy people outside of this forum
