Hi all, I am looking for a little advise.

I have managed to put a bad dent in my bootlid and want to change the the whole thing as its unrepairable (financially).
There are lots of lids for sale between £150 and £250 but all are in different states of how the looms have been severed.
My main question is will i be able to just remove my loom and re-route it through the new boot lid or will I need to splice the two looms together.

Many thanks in advance for any advice.

Cheers
Joe

I would imagine (assuming the lid is from a car of a similar age to yours), the neatest option would be to strip down both and re-run your existing loom into the new one. You should be prepared to replace a few trim clips which inevitably break and if you don't already have some, invest in a set of trim tools. They're not expensive and make this sort of job so much easier.

Thanks Mikey, I already have trim tools. I suppose stripping the replacement one first will allow me to work out where all the clips are before I have a go on my one.

Good advice already, only to add that I’d avoid splicing the looms on something like a bootlid if you can as the movement/flexing of the cables may lead to problems in future.

Good plan! It's always easier when you know where the clips are and how they attach the part.
