Revs limited to 3000 when car is idle???

Hi

I just realises that when my car is parked up or i neutral, when i try to rev, it is limited to going up 3000 revs, does not go higher than..

Is this a safety issue or is this something that needs to be looked into?

I put the car in paddle switch and it goes above the 3000 rpm to almost the end of the bar until i decide to switch gears...

I drive a mercedes a180 disesl auto

This is normal to prevent over-revving

It's called a soft limiter, lots of cars have it.

To stop people revving the tits off it when in neutral, for no apparent reason, other than draw attention to themselves.
