Bl00dy marvellous....

Unmissable.

Apart from a great story well told, the attention to detail is amazing.

From the seventies cars, clothes hairstyles, telephones, cameras...... and up to the spirit of the time.

James Hunt is seen sipping some bubbly and taking a sniff from what appears to be a rolled-up fag of some description (ahem..) just before a race (albeit an early-career F3 race).

Highly recommended (the film, that is, not drinking and smoking dope before driving.......).

Got all excited about my youth then .......!

Agreed. Well made movie about a difficult subject.

I've been really looking forward to this despite reports of a few liberties being taken to make it fit mainstream American tastes/expectations.

I remember sitting in a camper van at Poole Harbour, tuning in to BBC radio just in time to catch Lauda's fiery crash. As a young lad expecting to be celebrating another step towards his 2nd championship, it cast a very dark shadow over that sunny holiday. But what an amazing career he had.

...and I would say that Lauda probably didn't quit the Japan race because he got all sentimental and was thinking about his wife... I would hazzard a guess that he worked-out that Hunt couldn't possibly make 3rd place after stopping to change tyres, so why race? Lauda (mis)calculated that he could win the championship without actually racing and without 'losing face'.

Said that, hats off for even getting into an F1 car - twice - so soon after his near-fatal crash.

Seen today. A very good film, at times not an easy watch. Most sympathy was with lauda's wife.

Looking forward to seeing it even more now,is it on a par with the Senna movie?

Totally agree, saw it on Saturday night. Some tough bits and also some great humour. Loved the split with Hunts wife, "so apart from the drinking, drugs and moods, what was the problem". :). One of the few films I would watch again. Lauda actually comes out better than Hunt IMHO :)

Just got back from seeing it,can't add to what has already been said, just see it!

Excellent, now you have made the wait for DVD release even worse, thank you :D
