A couple of weeks ago had the Red Battery Symbol light come up, I was in town working. I then had to go to Oxford, light went out and the fault message disappeared. The next day went into town again driving for a couple of hours the Battery light came on again. Alternator or V Belt, any way two hours later the car stopped, nothing. RAC came out, got me going.
Next day garage checked on the Star, new Alternator, both batteries fully charged and tested. Take the car to the country next day client to Farnborough, then into town driving around for a few hours, Battery light comes on, on my way home car stops again !! RAC cant start it, battery completely flat, have it low loaded to my Indie. Next day, Star machine says faulty Alternator !! Every thing checked, batteries fully charged, fault disappears, they close the Bonnet Battery Light comes on again !! They suggest with the bonnet being closed the heat soak is the problem + the battery only going flat when I'm in traffic. Common Denominator When engine gets hot Alternator is not charging ?? Lots of scratching of heads.
Any thoughts ??
