S211 E270CDI Limp home mode in cold weather

A couple of years ago I bought a low mileage(70k miles) 2004 E270CDI S211.

Early in my ownership of this vehicle I ran into an issue.

On very cold days the car would go into limp home mode.

The car was repaired under warranty and the Turbo and control unit were replaced.

All seemed to be well, but one year on the same happened again - and now it is out of warranty.

Does anyone have any ideas on what might be causing this?

There are many things that could produce this, but let's start with a few questions.
How many miles on it now?
Do you have the ability to scan the vehicle for trouble codes?

I can dig the codes out but I was hoping to get to the bottom of my issues before the winter

I am concerned that I will not have the codes anymore and the system will have been cleared

I guess it is just a matter of wait until it happens again and see what fault codes arise

When it went into limp mode did the MIL illuminate?

What are the miles now?

As the problem only arises in VERY cold weather I put off dealing with it

My car has now done 116k miles
