Yesterday, as I accelerated off a roundabout, I realised my 350CDi was in limp mode! No warning lights, just a very obvious lack of power and revs. Once I'd got to where I was going, I switched off...switched on again...and got the 'power steering malfunction, check handbook' message...it wasn't in red, power steering functioning fine. A couple of hours later on starting up, the message has gone, full power restored. The car's driven perfectly till I got in it an hour ago - no message or warning lights, but definitely in limp mode. I had the same message come up a year ago, just once, it disappeared and hadn't returned until yesterday - I assume it went into limp mode, although I didn't notice due to being in very slow traffic for a while before parking up.
I'll obviously need to get the car checked for codes, but just wondered if a stored code(s) can lead to limp mode?

Pete
