I think if they really wanted to sell at that price it would be on "buy it now" or as an auction.

I find the classified adds on ebay very annoying so have got into the habbit of using the auction and buy it now tabs to exclude them when browsing

you ring him up, he says "I'm sorry but the Mercedes has sold but I do have ............."

Yes, it was a SCAM.

Ebay has now removed this ad. and the item is no longer available.
