Seating Blunder on Vito

Hi there,

I have just bought a Vito and in the process of fitting in the Viano quick release seats, when I have made a blunder with one of them and now cannot get it out. The Back clips will not release, and they are the only ones in.

Any help, ideas, without the laughing and finger pointing at the rockie would be most appreciated.

We did the same thing over the weekend.
I would start by folding and then tilting the seat as far possible forwards (so the top of the head restraints are facing the floor) and then whilst lifting the seat, pull the various levers.
It takes at least two people to lift and manoeuvre one of those seats properly.

Thanks for your reply. They are an absolute nightmare. One went in no problem at all and then I fluffed the other one!! Quick release?? Not today!! Will go and try wrestling with it again and take my daughter!! :D

SUCCESS!!!!!! A wee call to Mercedes-Benz Truck & Van (NI) service guys and I was there!! Thank goodness!! They are blooming heavy those seats!! I needed a screwdriver as a lever as well as brute strength!!

The 2-seater in the centre of ours weighs a ton. Luckily flipping it forwards nearly always gives enough space, so very rarely take it out.

The in/out of the seats isn't that complicated, it's remembering how that's the problem.
The seat we put in over the weekend was last in the van around 18 months ago.

The single seats in the Viano are alloy and much easer to get in and out, in the Vito its a two man job for sure.

Even the single seats are heavy as we often have ours out to use the full load capacity. Occasionally the seats will not release and I have found that either the arm rests or the head restraint is stopping the back folding down sufficiently. If that doesn't work sitting on the folded down back usually works to release the back fasteners. The Viano we had before this one had the double seats and they were very difficult to handle.
