Late 2008 model, S320 CDI After the engine light came on a few times, I dosed the CAT twice with a spray can cleaner. The light comes on and off randomely now ie. I drove to Minehead, 160mls and the light came on halfway there. We drove around for a week with it on , then, on the day we returned the light was out and didn't come on for the rest of the trip. Since then it comes and goes as it pleases! There is only one sensor which is in the main body of the CAT and that is the only one on the whole exhaust system. I assumed it was an O2 sensor but others have thrown up doubts at that. Any ideas please. also ,how to test if it's faulty. I've had in on my iCar soft which just says CAT clogged, but it 'ain't.

It's an O2 sensor. It's underneath the car

Everybody has been telling me it's not an oxygen sensor, they go before and after the cat but mine doesn't have them. Any info greatfully grabbed at ! I need to order one but without knowing what to call it, I'm a bit stuck. Thanks.

What's the vin number??

You say the Cat is not clogged . How do you know ? What are the upstream and downstream temperatures when engine running ?

Only done 40000 miles, all long runs, cleaned out twice. can be light on or off for long intervals

There arn't any upstream or downstream sensors.... just the one in the middle of the CAT canister

I'm pretty sure icarsoft does not say cat blocked. The Diesel oxidation catalyst is passive. What does icarsoft say verbatim?
