Car
2016 S205 220d AMG Line Premium Plus
After much deliberation and searching for the right vehicle, my daughter took delivery of her 2016 C220d Coupė AMG Line Night Edition
Absolutely proud as punch of her that shes worked her butt off to be able to buy such a lovely motor.

Full service history, 76k Maxton front splitter and rear diffuser with AMG quad tips along with AMG alloys.

Its everything she ever wanted, the driveway looks quite posh now alongside our S205 AMG Line Premium Plus ( soon to add a CLS350 as well for me when i can decide )

Wow, looks in good nick too. How much was insurance for a 19 year old with a car like that?
Wasnt too bad tbh, she did vehicle change from her 1.6tdi golf with 3 months remaining for £500

I did a couple of ghost quotes with 1yr ncb and it was around £1700

New policy with an extra years ncb should reduce it a bit

My son just wants a "proper" Mini when he passes......he's only coming up to 16....so we are getting one as a father son project. Fixing it up and de-rusting etc should be a fun project. And since all kids are whimps these days it will be getting a power steering conversion using Corsa parts! Hopefully should not be too eye watering on the insurance too.

Very lucky girl hope she enjoys it and looks after it

Wow, that’s a really lovely car and exceptional for a young driver. The insurance sounds remarkably reasonable, especially with mods.

And I thought MB was only driven by old people? ;)
We're not all young tearaways racing at the lights! My brother says I drive 'slowly' because I try drive gently, whereas in his knackered Hyundai with 1/3rd the horsepower I'm thrown around in the seat!

not true, i'm nearly 62 years young :D:thumb:

My daddy used to say only old people drives Mercedes.

Daddy asked me why I wanted to buy a Merc when I could drive BMW like every young punk wearing baseball cap.
I told him BMW is way to complicated to fix when they breakdown, MB is cheaper to maintain.
So I bought an AMG feeling young in my mind. :)

Did it have the oblong headlamps, and the early dash? (they were so kool) 😁

It was a 76 so a late model car with the same dash as a MK4 Cortina. The guy picked me up at Walthemstow station and drove me to the middle of a council estate. I didnt want to buy it but I figured that it's safer than walking 🤣🤣🤣. I sold it to a buddy who put the 2.0l pinto engine in his MK2 Escort 1100L. He blew up his gearbox or rear end not long afterwards.

Better than leaving without the motor and the money! 😂 Ah the joys of Ford part compatibility, many a woozy weekend morning changing engines/boxes/diffs on the street outside mate’s houses. It all seemed so easy back then, and hangovers just breezed away! An old seatbelt, scaffold tube, and a couple of lads, you’d do a Kent or Pinto engine swap by lunchtime, back out that evening for jolly japes!

I swapped out the wheezy 55 horse 1.3 4 pot Kent in my Mk2 4 door Escort L for a 3.0 V6 Capri engine with a mighty 140 ish horse. On the road outside my house. Did I upgrade the suspension, brakes or tell the insurance....of course not...I was 18! To be fair it stopped and handled OK for the time.... even on the skinny 155 tyres...on Rostyles of course! I did learn a lot about oversteer though. Good times.
