So yesterday I bought....

I bought the 2GB version of this a few weeks ago when it was discounted to £90:

The thing is tiny (about twice the size of the new ipod shuffle). I'm currently ploughing my way through some audiobooks, as well as the odd podcast - I spend about 3.5 hours per day on the train!

They are luverly! Also can use as portable USB hard drive!

There's a firmware upgrade out on the Creative site - AVOID! I does sort a couple of operating system bugs BUT it fundamentally changes the way music is transferred over instead of the Apple style list of Artists, Genres etc you effectively end up with a big list - not happy :(

Ahh the slight downside of buying a device made by Creative:

It's supported by Creative!

Default is "All Tracks" but if you go into System & then Options there is a series of check boxes to show what gets displayed on the main menu. Check the right boxes and it will then slice & dice tracks by Album, Genre & Artist. Does the firmware upgrade knacker that? If so someone needs to be shot.

Small thing but I really like the fact that the little colour display can be set to show the album cover of what is playing, which gets pulled down from the internet by the software if it recognises the album.

The main problem is the new "PlaysForSure" webbrowser interface on the PC

Hope there has been some shooting - it's rubbish, wish I hadn't "upgraded"

Playsforsure likely to die sometime soon, given that MS's new MP3 player - Zune doesn't even support it!!! :-)
