My old faithful CL500 '00 which is now in the hands of a friend, started to trip the 20A fuse under the right rear pssenger seat. Of course I had to take the pump unit apart and tried to run the motor using a separate PSU. The start current may be high, but it then drops to < 1A. Unfortunately, I did not do this test with the two rubber hoses attached to the pump mechanics. So I could not dtect what the small contact blades does that is in mechanical contact with what must be a pressure sensor/piston in the vacuum distribution cavity. When replacing the fuse, the doors do soft-close for a few seconds, after which the fuse blows. According to a friend working for MB, this is the typical behavior of a broken pump unit, but I cannot simply let this go without asking for information, if there is someone who has actually diagnosed a "broken" unit in regard to ie the pressure sensor. Second, I am curious as to what the small rectangular thing that is connected to the Controller PCB does. When tapping on it, it makes a swirling sound for a second or two.
