Hello mates,

Finally managed to take my car to an indi MB garage. Problem was at 60-70 mph on the motorway, if I had to brake, the car would sort of shudder.

This was the fault

'we have inspected the vehicle and found the the o/s/f camber arm ball joint has got play and require replacement. The cost to replace this in round figures is £300.00 inclusive of VAT. Please let us know if you would like us to proceed with this.'

Yes, please

I hope they got it right

Sounds like good diagnosis. Ball joint wear is a common cause of shuddering under braking from speed. The arms should be replaced in pairs. Quality of the arms is important, I only use Lemforder.

I will ask about replacement in pairs
thanks TtM

Just spoke to the gal , replaced only one... would that be a problem?

no, as long as the other side is in good working order, always best to do in pairs if you have the cash.

The upside of replacing them in pairs is that you can forget about them. if the other side goes next week you are doing the job again. If the O/S has gone the N/S could be very close behind it.
