Sprinter
Hello
This is my first post
I’m looking for a high mileage 2017 Sprinter, preferably with a few months of 3 year warranty remaining
Anyone know of courier firms or similar who dispose of their Sprinter direct to Joe Public
This way the seller and buyer would avoid Auction Fees
I know of a March 2017 316 LWB with 350000 miles!
I calculate it must have averaged 300+ miles each day for the last 3 years?
It can’t have spent much time at the MB Agent not working ie it must have been reliable
Unfortunately it’s just out of warranty, but therefore comparatively cheap
Anyone have experience of these mileages, is it likely that I’ll get another 100K without massive bills
I believe in driving with “
mechanical sympathy “ and oil changes every 6000 miles
I want it to use as a camper
I apologise if there are existing threads on this subject but I’m finding it very difficult to search and filter this forum for subjects specific to Sprinters
I must be doing something wrong
I would appreciate any feedback ( positive)), I’m a shy retiring wallflower

Most sprinters with high mileage and used for multi-drop have been driven very very hard. They don't have their oil checked and go over service time a lot. Be careful. They do do the miles well but its a minefield to get a good one.

Hello BlackC55
Thanks for the prompt reply
The seller of the 316 that I’m interested in says the service history is available to anyone on line by quoting the registration
I’ve found a website called “ Mercedes DSB”
Digital Service Book ( I think), but I can’t open it using an iPhone
Do you know if it’s available to anyone other than the owner or a dealer?
Is there a code word like “opensaysame”
I’m a bit of a Luddite when it comes to computers
Oh, and the Parkers Guide online valuation doesn’t recognise the Registration and only adjusts the valuation up to 199,000 miles for a similar year/ model, which is a bit of a concern

Specilaists and dealers have access to DSB. I would look for you but m at home and I don't know the passwords of the top of my head.

The fleet disposal firms rarely sell just the one van via auction in my experience, you normally have to bid on whatever they’re getting rid of at that time i.e. say they’ve got ten of these vans for disposal you’d offer say £25,000 (some will be good, others rough but you have to take them all, you’ll take a hit on one but do well out of another)

These vans will come up at auction though, they’re bought by the above traders and broken down into more bite size chunks.

BlackC55 & SPX, thanks for replies
BlackC55, I’ve found a tame MB dealer who has emailed me the service record, it looks ok with service intervals approximately every 35K miles
Flywheel? replaced and repaired leak to rear differential
SPX
I assumed that fleet managers would “stagger” vehicle exchange ie one every month
Many years ago a local depot for Hertz Van Rental would deal direct to the public but the depot manager wouldn’t allow a test drive or even to start the engine , but still wanted premium prices, I wasn’t prepared to take the chance

The 350K van is still an option but I’ll keep looking

Assume nothing with fleet disposal, you get some (most) managers who don’t want the headache and the rare few who’ll sell individually.

The thing the managers learn quickly is that someone who is just looking to buy the one van is not a trader and will be a normal punter looking for a bargain and - not saying this is the case with you - there’ll be more hassle selling that one van than selling 50 to a handful of traders because they want test drives, mechanic inspections etc whereas a trader takes the rough with the smooth and the fleet manager will rarely hear anything back.
