Spacesaver?

Hi. I am looking at buying a GLB but was wondering if I can get a spacesaver. My dealer told me I can't buy one but it's in the handbook. Did Merc ever sell them or were they a factory option? Any ideas? Thanks.

Plenty of online shops selling a full kit ,Inc wheel , jack,chocks , in a bag . £190 ISH . One from an e class would probably be ok ,if the rolling radius is matched .

There are several companies that sell space saver wheels and tyres for a range of vehicles.

I bought one for out BMW X1. They sell kits as well with the jack, wheelbrace and chock.

Thanks for that. Quite a few on eBay are 155/70 17 but the standard wheels are 235/50 19 so I think the spacesaver would be appropriately 648mm and approximately 718mm diameter for the full sized wheel so from the axle centre there is 35mm difference in the height and, if I'm right, 35mm is a big difference so very confusing.

Space saver wheels are always going to be a narrower section and usually a smaller diameter although 18 inch types are available.

They are only designed as an emergency spare to be used at reduced speeds and distance to enable you to get to a place where you can have the damaged original tyre replaced.

Buy one from a company that lists the suitable type for your vehicle. Some will come with or need shorter wheel bolts.

The only thing is if you buy one of these kits I would get a different jack as the ones that come with them are sh$t

What GLB are you considering? I have the 7 Seat Version and although I have never looked into getting a Space Saver, I'm struggling to think where it could be Stored!

Also check if it need a 'collapsible' tyre , the type where that sidewall is flexible. Fits in a smaller place , Compressor required .

+1 for the supplied scissor jack , absolute Carp , ABSOLUTE Emergency use only.

Think I'd probably go for a 7 seater diesel due to there being more about but it looks like I'm favouring a full sized spare and losing half the boot and obviously not using the extra seats. Similar option to what I do now tbh

I carry a kit like this and a small 2 tonne bottle jack and 12v air pump. Best emergency kit I'd say ,if you're capable of bending.completely useless for a blow out

Temp fix until a repair , but yes , excellent.

But, importantly, they are still for limited speed emergency use only.
