Sprinter 907 2020
Hi all, I purchased a 2 year old 907 sprinter from a Merc dealer last April, since day 1 it has been failing to start when hot at the first press of the starter button. It turns over all lumpy and fails to catch. Mostly this happens when the stop/start has turned the engine off at traffic lights for example and it takes 5 to 10 seconds to get going again. its never done it when cold and only twice from an ignition off hot start when the engine has been off for 5 to 10 mins.

Note it always starts next press of the starter button (so far)

The Merc dealer has had it in twice to attempt to fix it but all they have said they have done each time is a software update and it’s not fixed it.

I will attempt to attach a video link of it happening in case anyone can help by saying they have seen this and hopefully solved it before .

Many thanks Mark.

So it’s been in again to Mercedes dealer and they told me they changed the Crank position sensor . Had it back 1 week and all seemed ok until a long journey obviously got the under bonnet temperature up and it repeated a number of times so I called Merc breakdown. The technician found codes indicating the CPS was at fault (attached picture) , so if the CPS had been changed what else could be the cause ? Note It’s always when the engine is hot . Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks
