Stratstone Dealer Annoys Me Again

You know the high level 3rd brake lights on w209 CLK's, well mine fell out this weekend.

I was impressed that the dash display told me the 3rd brake light was not working though, nice touch. Although a warning that half of it is inside the boot lid and the rest on the driveway would be more apt.

I phoned Stratstone Mercedes (Giffnock) to arrange for a new one to be fitted under warranty, but as helpful as ever, they refuse to admit it is a common fault & want me to take a 40 mile round trip to let them "assess" it before they will order a new light. The car is more helpful than the dealer.

If it's a common fault they may well have one in stock.

Perhaps book a courtesy car, then if it's not fixed just say you'll pop back when your car's ready! Normally they can get parts next day.
 
Normally I would agree with you, but this particular garage has never done anything that has left me impressed. I think I'll take it elsewhere.

I assumed as the car is under warranty, the light has broken into two pieces & the fault is well documented on both sites here in the UK and the ones in the US too, that a simple, "certainly sir, we'll book it in for next week and fix it while you wait" would have been the preferred response.
