As I'm planning to keep, my C207, I'm considering a front upper strut brace, not particularly for better handling purposes, although it can't hurt, but more for cosmetic looks. This particular strut brace, is actually for W204 all models, but apparently it will fit perfectly a C207, the Silver one is £90 and the
Black one is £80, also planning to get my current wheels, refurbed, I've been toying with idea of a different set, but these suit the car, so well, but after nearly 3 years on the car, could do with a make over. :)

This might be fun...I did wonder when this day would come .

Have you a pic of an American 207 engine bay ?

Appreciate that the stated primary intent is for cosmetic reasons, but looking at the geometry of that "brace" I can't see it doing anything in a practical sense other than add weight. It also flattens the plenum chamber seal that the bonnet normally sits on which is unhelpful.

No difference with the seal flattened .

I understand what you are saying because after all roll cages are effectively one piece welded steel .

But there we have it , the AMG A45 S is a three piece !

The seal is there for a reason. With it flattened by a bar on top of it, it no longer acts as a seal against the bonnet therefore it’s purpose is defeated.

It’s not the number of pieces that’s the issue. The one on the A45 uses a straight tube twixt the strut crowns, which is fine.

The one in the photo on a W204 uses a flat plate with bends in it that act as flex points. It is also lacking in thickness in the vertical plane which means that, combined with the bends in it, it will be essentially useless in compression because it will just bow. In tension the bends will allow it to increase in effective length. Other than that, it’s perfect.

Well you can really modify the seal if you really want .

But hey it's all for cosmetics reasons .

Had this strut brace for nearly 2 years just never got around to fitting it,
(If indeed it fits) so I'm going to give it a go, as soon as i get a nice day, it's all ready for fitting. 🙂

Looks very nice, where are they on sale ?

Fleabay or Gravity Performance, it was on offer when I bought it, £60 So I thought why not. 🙂

I am clearly missing something here. It will be fitted for 'cosmetic reasons'...but no one can see it 🤷‍♂️ 🤔
I agree with this comment, once knew someone fit one then slammed the bonnet shut and .... Nice dent in bonnet, oops

Good spot.
That'll be the seal that isolates the high (air) air pressure zone at the base of the windscreen from the main engine bay so as not to oppose the radiator's cooling air's travel.

Not sure of the make, but bought from Gravity Performance, it's actually for a W204/C204 but I've done some investigating and I'm fairly sure it'll fit. 🙂

Luckily you have a flat engine cover !

Gravity Performance aka Jap Parts Europe Ltd aka Japspeed so Paul Mcallum .
