Suggestions for Northern AMG meetings

Hi everyone

To be able to get some more Northern AMG Meetings in the calendar some suggestions for good venues would be most appreciated. We have had one meeting this year at The Old Tile Works, Humber Bridge, organised by Garry, thanks for that.

We have meetings planned for The National Mining Museum Wakefield on 27 May and at Locomotion, Shildon, County Durham on 24 June. Whitby is another possible location but arranging dedicated car parking with the local council has proved difficult, and time consuming, but I have not given up on that one.

What constitutes a “Northern” Meeting is subjective but I’d welcome ideas for future venues where we can have dedicated parking and access to food and refreshments, something else to do other than look at cars is always a plus point. Whilst billed as AMG meetings anyone with a MB will as always be most welcome.

It would definitely qualify as Northern , some nice scenic roads to get there from the South. Where would you suggest as a venue? Main requirements are a car park with a dedicated area for our cars, Cafe where we can all get refreshments together. etc.

Looks an interesting venue. I see they give a discount if you arrive on a bicycle, hope they don’t add a surcharge for AMGs I’ll add it to the list , thanks for the suggestion

Thanks for the suggestion, should be accessible to folk from the NW too, looks good and a great location for a drive out in the Yorkshire Dales.

I’ve visited the Yorkshire Air museum before and it is an interesting venue. There is ample car parking, and NAFFI canteen. The entry fee is usually £10 per person but car clubs who pre-book with 10 or more cars are charged £6 including driver and 1 passenger.

I was told about The Waterwheel Tea Rooms in Howden, East Yorkshire by Derek (Delpel) as a possible venue for an AMG meeting. This is a very nice cafe/bistro with good car parking and easy access from the M62.

I enjoy visiting smaller circuits and often frequent Blyton park for grasstrack or even watching a track day. Cheap day out ( entry is buttons / free ) there is a cafe on site if your watching a trackday / event and there is miles of parking

Blyton is a fantastic circuit.

For some reason they seem to update their calendar month by month.

I am there with my club I setup 5 years ago - turboRenault.co.uk and we are doing a trackday / camping on the august bank holiday weekend.

Thanks Andy. I’ll keep an eye on the calendar and see about having a drive down when something is on. I’m not sure what I’m doing on the bank holiday yet.
