I searched long and hard for a decent not-abused car, and rejected 30 before I bought this one, went up past Norfolk for it if i remember correctly. It was miles away, but worth it! Dead-on a year ago. My wife reminded me the other night of the Cheshire Cat grin I had on my face as she overtook me on the way back from picking her up (sadly I dont think I feel the same about her replacement which does not drive as nicely
I bought it as a 2-3 year keeper, but in the meantime my father in law replaced his w220 with a w221 and we were encouraged to buy the w220 at an, ahem, good price! So the w140 has to go, it's been unofficially up for sale for 2 minths (without any marketing other than a posting on the Mercedes Club forum. A member who had seen it wanted it but his own sale fell through and he has not yet found a buyer. I feel a bit sad as I know he would have looked after her.
1994m ( may include dateless reg J*V7*8 if I get my asking price) 500se (not lwb)
azurite blue with mushroom hide and burr walnut
sunroof, climate, heated electric seats and column, c/locking,soft close doors (working!),electric mirrors
clear lenses in front and side-repeat indicators
6 spoke refurbed 16" alloys
fsh
lovely condition
includes blaupunkt rome full navigation radio with 2006 european disc and integrated blaupunkt bluetooth kit and usb port (for mp3 tracks from a memory stick) - the combined new price supply only of that lot was around £600 and it works a treat, looks subtle too, saves all those messy suckers and wires of a tomtom!
90,469 miles
MOT 15/1/2010
tax out jan '09 but will tax 6m if asking price achieved
in super original condition, i will replace the sunroof seal as it has slightly distorted, does not leak in! the only thing to note is on the drivers side c pillar there is a circle an inch and a half of lifted lacquer. i spoke with my local paintshop and we agreed it was better to keep the car original as it was so minor - i got him to blow some lacquer over it to prevent any lifting, you need to look for it as is not obvious. other than that, nothing. personally i prefer to see things in original condition rather than tarted up for sale....thats just me though.
i would call myself fastidious, my wife would call me a picky pain in the bum(!) but this is reflected in the quality of cars that i buy. you would see that in the quality of this one.
chassis no wdb 1400502a209876

from the MOT's the car only did 3000 miles between oct 02 and july 05.
i also have recent invoices for plugs/brake fluid/fuel filter/charcoal filter and "B" service MB Kings Lynn 26/7/07, belts and steering damper 8/8/07 MB Kings Lynn, crank position sensor and new distriibutor caps 10/11/07 MB Kings Lynn, winter check 21/1/08 MB Kings Lynn.
The last owner was apparently a "gentleman" who had bought her for the rest of his life however had knee problems and needed something higher to get in and out of, he bought a Ford Galaxy. apparently the week after I bought her he took it back and wanted the S500 back and was prepared to stand the knee pain!!!!
She shows 6 previous owners which would normally be a worry to me, however on investigation I found there had been several "tax reasons" changes of registered keeper. the number plate was changed 2005, 2006, then by me in 08, with everything else history wise i was happy that this was the true story, after all, the MOT's don't lie about the mileage, the history is there, and these types of cars new are owned by directors/business owners, the tax reasons thing is perfectly viable (i'm self employed and looking into the same thing now!!!)
Will be on Ebay by the start of next week as she's not being used and i need the space for a building project. I'd rather she went to a caring owner if I could.
All in all she's a proper, straight, genuine, unabused example of a w140 in the right colours and the right spec.
*note that this picture is from last summer before I changed the wheels, when I've washed her I will update the picture!)
