I was looking forwards to my service today at Redhill for 2 reasons:
1) I understood that my 2006 W211 could have folding mirrors activated upon locking the vehicle and
2) They would be able to get the TMC cars on the correct side of the road.

The responses they gave me were as follows:
1) The mirrors cannot be made to fold upon locking
2) The cars on the wrong side is nothing to do with MB, it is the fault of the TMC signal putting them there.

--Perhaps I'll try a different dealer for my service next year.

Thanks for your first post and welcome to the forum. Yes you must be upset over that, you an always ask an indie with STAR to have a go

If it's a 2006 W211 you can activate the folding mirrors to work on locking via the cluster.

I took my C270CDi for its first MOT today - it's only the second time it's ever been to the dealership since I bought it at 5mths old. Last time was an A service at 18000 - it still has 4000 to go to its B service.

Anyway, they told me on the phone it also needed brake fluid (really should have been done at 2yrs) and coolant. Turned out when I got there that coolant is 15! years. I thought I might get some hassle about the brake fluid as I've only recently taken out ServicePlus, but no problem.

Three things were annoying:
1) Their complete lack of urgency in dealing with me. I was the first service customer of the day at 8AM sharp and it took 35mins to hand over the car. And I had to ring at the end of the day to see if was ready ('oh it's been done since lunchtime sir, sorry we were too busy to call you') which by then meant I had to battle through rush hour traffic to get there and back.

2) I reported a COMAND problem - a lag in the spoken instructions. They thought it seemed fine and even sent a technician out with me, but the traffic was so busy it was hopeless. It still sdid it once but he seemed not to hear it, and then started talking about replacing the COMAND unit next time its in! (I'm pretty sure it just needs a new DVD but I don't want to pay £250 for one that I don't really need anyway).

3) The drift to the left thing that seems to affect many w203's. They said it's fine, but then issued an advisory with the MOT that the edge of the NSF tyre was worn!

Jeep,

The response regarding the TMC icons is completly wrong - all you need is a software update to the comand head unit. They should do it for free but the disk only costs about £10 and you can do it yourself- only takes a few minutes.

Latest S/W for your car is Rel 21.090 - Disk part number is W211 589 13 22 00

This hand-over time really gets me: At MB Ascot you have a single reception person who's sole job is to ask you to sit down and wait. Your "dedicated" service advisor is then sought from the bowels of the new building. If he's out, or busy, then you are just told to wait longer! Last time, all I was doing was picking up some new wheels (to replace corroded ones) and I had to go mental to get anyone else to hand them over. The meeter and greeter told me it was not protocol for him to contact anyone else. Usually there are 2 or 3 people all in the same situation looking exasperated at each other and no service personnel in sight. So I can quite understand your 35min handover. This happens every time. I'm never going there again, I just can't stand it.

Camber sensitive. It will drift to the right on a reverse cambered road.

Thanks, I was considering Ascot for the next service on my R129 as they are much closer to me now than Tony Purslow ... but I don't think I'll bother.
