Hi could anybody give me an idea of what is wrong with my work car (a Ford Galaxy Ghia X 2.0 Turbo diesel 2009) when I am in 6th gear cruising on the motorway at 60,70,80 mph there is no problem but when I put my foot down to overtake it starts to sort of lurch, accelerating then a momentary loss of power then its back again ! It does this all the time until you ease off the gas and then it stops .It has started to do this all the time now. If you are accelerating in 1st 2nd or 3rd it does not do it, just mainly in 5th and 6th when you are doing anything from 50mph upwards and go for an overtake. Has anybody any suggestions ? Thanks

Sorry Mark not a clue. Hope you get a solution soon. I'm sure one of the techs will be along later with a far better answer than mine. At least my post boosts (sorry) you back to the top of the stack again.

try asking over at talkford.co.uk they are a nice bunch. Off the top of my head though I'd say boost sensor and fuel supply as the areas I'd consider starting my research,,

How old is your MAF sensor? Check all your turbo flexible pipework for any leaks.

It will probably an air leak. Lift the bonnet on the front of the engine left hand side you will see the egr valve (need to take the engine cover off) there's a rubber pipe going

from it down to the inter cooler has a bit of a bend in it . This is normally where they split look for oily/dirty build up probably on the bend, it's very common and your local dealer will have them in stock.

Funnily enough I noticed exactly the same on my 2008 S-Max with the same engine. Only ever happened once coming over the Alston road when in 5th or 6th on full power and up the steep hills. Feels like the power comes in then throttles back and then surges again.... I never investigated further as it's never re-occurred (I've said it now:doh:) but had assumed some sort of overboost protection. Might have a look for that hose as an easy fix. If it's the same issue I would expect it to surface more on the Galaxy due to the extra weight.
