Can anyone give me an idea for the cost of replacing it? The car has 73,000 on the clock and not much service history. I only purchased this car in May. Thank you for any info. I would take it to a independant garage.

It might help if you told us which engine type is fitted.

Engines with timing chains generally do not have a change interval.

Hello DSM10000, Sorry its 180 CDI. 2010 model. Thanks for replying to my topic.

No problem and welcome to the Forum! 👍

From what I can see the engine in your car uses a timing chain and there is no replacement schedule for chains.

Regular oil and filter changes with good quality oil of the correct specification should give a long life to the chain.

Chains do not need changing. Its a nice thing about mercs.
Its everything else you need a wallet for
