Hey guys!

Long time lurker, thought I’d finally join the community. 😀

I’ve had my Mercedes a couple of years now, had a few issues over the course of the past year, mainly oil leak housing replacement (I believe this is a common issue? Or “was” seals etc) & boost pipe replacement as it had some holes in, albeit I saw after you can tape these up.. 😅

AGM battery was just replaced as well.

Anyway, I was wondering when should a timing chain be replaced if ever? Vehicle mileage is currently 76.5k, all necessary servicing has been done, transmission fluid, engine oil etc, I try to keep on top of these things where possible!

E class coupe 220, 63 plate, images below as I’m not sure on the model number (if that’s what they’re referred as) - I believe it’s the OM651 engine.

Thanks in advance for reading and the help!

A bit of searching here and you'll likely reach the conclusion that there's nothing to worry about till it rattles at start up. Then you might get away with a replacement tensioner.

Regular oil changes with good oil seems to be the recommendation for longevity,
oh and disable stop / start if it has it.

Thanks @m80 !

wasn’t too sure if it varies per model, yep it has s&s which I’ll turn off.

👍🏽
