Good morning,

I find myself in a bit of a tricky situation.
The check engine has appeared. Did a summary check and found that the "Transmission Range Sensor PRND" is not working right.
I can`t seem to find the part on line.

Can anyone give me any suggestion on how to search for this sensor? I might be saying something generic and not the exact name of it.
It doesn`t really show me anything from MB under that definition.

2011, C250 blue eff, diesel, 2.1 204 bhp automatic

Can this repair be done in a DIY mode? does it need taking the gearbox apart? bleeding the transmission oil again?

Go down this route and have a mooch about online. The gearbox is a common item and spares/repairs/services are available . I don't know the 'ins and outs' of it but I believe if you get your original one repaired it bolts back in no problem . If you buy a new / refurbed one it has to be coded. Someone on here will be along soon with more detail 👍

Forgot to mention, before this I kept seeing an error about P2783 - torque converter temp too high. Not sure it can be related to the P0705

How many miles on this car and what gearbox service history does it have ?
130k, just passed. I bought it at 120k, full service history prior to me. but no gb work done. I changed the oil, filter and sensor (if I remember the invoice exactly) at the dealership.

OK Miki . Just to confirm you have no history at all of a gearbox service ? If that is the case the gearbox needs a full service.

Yes, there appears to be no service work done on the GB. nothing registered at least.
All I did is change the oil/filter and the sensor.

What would the service consist of?

thank you very much Pete!
