Vito 115cdi not cranking

Hello and welcome.
It's my first post and not good one unfortunately.
I have a problem with my 2004 vito 115cdi.
When I put key in ignition I can hear steering lock operate, all lights come on on the cluster bit there is no crank.
I have checked battery and it has 12.65V.
When I short points on starter solenoid it cranks then.
Any ideas guys?

I have managed to start van with my friend help.
He has turned key to start position and I've shorted terminala on the starter with screwdriver.
This eliminates ignition fault as injectors were activated and van started.
Have you got a clue why is it not startung when key is turned?
Starter solenoid or can it be something different?

Sounds Like your in for an expensive repair... like the ignition barrel being at fault?? Ouch!

Yes looks like. I have replaced starter and still same.
Looks like ignition barrel not sending signal to starter solenoid when key is turned.
But van starts when external power is sent to starter and key turned.
