Vito 115 L
Hi. New to this forum. I'll give a bit if background before I put forward my query. Basically I've just given back a sprinter 2008 lwb 311 to the company I rented it from. I put 85,000 miles in last year but wanted to reduce van size.
I have just won a contract for a couple of drop off at night up the m1 to Scunthorpe and Wakefield. Literally 50kg of boxes. It's a 300 mile round trip so I'll be clocking up 1,500 miles a week.
I was told that a tranny would cut it, but I've noticed one I had before started whingeing after being put through 1,000 mile a week. I've seen a vito 115 L for sale 145k on the clock. 54 plate. Been used locally by tradesmen but he is now selling due to upgrade. I wanted to go for higher bhp hoping it will save me fuel and engine wear in long run. Any advice anyone can offer in regards I what to look out for ie common faults etc. And what sort of mpg should I be expecting? He tells me it has common rust spots and that all injector have been re sealed, cam shaft sensor replaced all serviced regular. Any advice would be great. Going to look at it tom!

The brochure mpg figures for the 115 (assuming it doesn't have a DPF, which was optional) were:

urban: 26.6
extra-urban: 41.5
combined: 34.8

On a long motorway run keeping the speed down helps, you should manage high 30s. We have a 120 (3.0 V6 auto) that averages around 25 mpg but does about 31 on a long run at around 75.

The 115 and 111 had identical fuel consumption figures. The lowest powered version (109) was worse ... due to having a different back axle ratio I think.

Vitos only got galvanised body panels from around 2005 so you need to look carefully for rust on a 54 plate ... not just the obvious cosmetic bits. Front wings will definitely be OK though - they are plastic :)

Tyres wear on the outside edges (esp. the front), so check them. Window regulators fail, so make sure they go up and down.

Friend of mine just sold her 115 with >300k miles on it and replaced with a newer 116.

Thanks for reply. I bought it in the end. Back doors were identical to Swiss cheese with the amount of holes in em! Had it mot'd- tester was shocked how good it was. Pull really well and for £1800 think I got myself a bargain. I wanted to know if the old shape sprinter safe t bar for the back bumper would fit onto new shape vito?

No idea about the Safe T Bar but I would doubt it tbh, the Sprinter and Vito are totally different vehicles.
