Hi, I have no idea of how calling this part, and how to find a replacement. It is an old car, so I know it is going to be difficult, but knowing it's name it also could allow me to find a tutorial.

A photo of the white part:

It is half cracked, but the mechanic said he saw others more wracked and still working. Wouldn't like to wait for it to crack in 2 years.

Let's see if someone can help with this!
Thanks!

It looks like part of a gear selector assembly.
You'll need to give more info on the vehicle, type year etc for anyone to assist.

If it is the gear selector for the Vito in your avatar, there are some for sale on ebay but you'll need the whole assembly.

^ Apologies, I should have read the title and see you have mentioned the vehicle.
Still think its the gear selector which will come as one unit, not just that plastic part.

The photo it is from the gear selector, but I thought maybe that part had a particular name.

I searched on eBay but for some reason only appears the automatic gear selector.

I am thinking probably on a junkyard I can find replacements for this, and cheaper. I don't know if I would have to buy the whole package or just the white part. We will see.

Well, thanks Herbert 😉

Perhaps one of the online parts catalogues may help

or this one

From the first link above , this page covers the 638 series ; I don't know exactly your vehicle though

From there , I picked one of the Vito models , may not be the one you have ? And then chose 'transmission' to get this page

From there , I clicked on shift lever and shifting parts , to get this page

From the drawing , I think it might be the item marked as 119 , and if you scroll down the list it gives the description 'shifting dog parts kit' and the Mercedes-Benz part number A 000 260 01 35

Please bear in mind that is just for a Vito I picked at random from the list , you would need to pick your correct vehicle to get the correct part number for your own vehicle . There is an option on the very first page to enter your VIN number , then it should take you directly to it . You can then follow the steps to find the part you need .

With the Mercedes-Benz part number , you should be able to order the part from any Mercedes-Benz dealer . Some of them have online shops on eBay , and you can contact them with the part number to get a price .

Hope this helps .

From the second catalogue I posted above , maybe this page is more helpful ? Although , again I don't know exactly which vehicle you have .

As you will see though , every tiny part is listed , so ought to be available , and I don't think that small plastic part should be too costly .

If you went into a dealership , to the parts counter and take your VIN number , plus the photo you posted above , the partsman ought to be able to identify it for you and give you a price . The dealerships are often cheaper for many parts than some other suppliers .
