W class soft top won’t close (2015)

Hi all. New here so please move if this post is in the wrong place.
BTW - its an E Class but can't work out how to amend the title!

I have an issue with my e class soft top. In short, it opens fine but will not close. ( unless you do it manually). No noise at all when the button is pressed

no error codes on the dash or anything to suggest that there is a fault.

has anyone else had something similar happen ?

any help / advise greatly received

If it has a rocker type switch could it be that the switch is broken and not sending the close message to trigger the roof close routine? I would expect an error message if it was the usual culprit of a failed micro switch. Also the fact that it opens ok suggests the micro switches are ok. My money is on the button to close it being faulty. My CLK has a push / lift switch for the roof. I’m guessing you have a similar switch?

You could test the switch with a simple voltmeter to check or you could simply take a punt and buy a replacement switch online and fit it yourself. The control switch for mine is in the centre console and you can remove the trim to access behind it very easily. Hopefully yours is similar.
